I think it's so nice for kids to grow up around dogs so they don't develop any phobias. My mom, however, only let us have goldfish and hamsters. To me, it's just not the same. What do you think?

I agree, dogs are wonderful for kids. It teaches them responsibility and is their best friend when they think the whole world is against them.

I think it's good for a child to have a pet that they can take some responsibility for. Hamsters and goldfish seem to disposable to me and you can't play with them. Playing with an animal is the best way for a child to bond with it.

Children can play with dogs and dogs do care for children and therefore the company of each one is beneficial for other.
